Who qualifies as an alumnus?
Anyone who matriculated as a student at Great Ife is considered an Alumnus – graduation is not required.
Can I attend even if I'm not an alumnus?
You can attend as a guest of an alumnus. Adult guests are welcome to attend the Sunday night banquet.
Who will be attending?
A large number of alumni in the USA, NigeriAnd across the world are expected to attend. The Vice Chancellor has been very supportive and he is coming with an entourage of university officials and the the President of the Nigerian Chapter of the Great Ife Alumni Association. Previous reunions were attended by alumni from Europe, AfricAnd across the United States
What’s the theme for the Reunion?
A “NigeriAt 50 – Ranking Great Ife Globally.” We plan to develop plans – strategic and tactical, on how to raise the profile of our beloved alma mater to be considered among the best in the world. A major component of the strategic plan is the launching of an endowment to fund various programs required for consideration as Top 200 among world universities.

Where can I stay?
The reunion will be held at Sheration Washington North Hotel in Beltsville, MD, outside Washington DC. This hotel is within reasonable driving distance of three (3) airports – BWI in Baltimore, Reagan National in Arlignton, Virginia, and Dulles in Sterling/Reston, Virginia. The Sheration has some rooms reserved for us at a discounted price but there are other hotels you can look up in the areThey are available on the hotel section of this website. Can I just show up at the venue for the reunion
We strongly encourage you to register prior to the Reunion. This will help with our planning so that we can make sure that you have Thoroughly enjoyable experience
Will transportation be available?
The Sheraton Washington North hotel does not run complimentary shuttle service to the closest metro station (Greenbelt on the Green Line).
What about my kids?
Although the reunion is targeted towards alumni we do recognize that many alumni would like to bring their children. The general meeting and banquet on Saturday are the only events restricted to adults. There shall be Baby Sitting/Infant Child Care facility for Alumni and Guests who come with babies, toddlers and infants for those activities. Token fee may be charged for this service at the venue.
What else can I do in the local area?
A Experience the Washington Metro Area for its fantastic museums, monuments, art features, etc. There are sights to visit in DC, Maryland and Virginia.
Besides register, what do I have to do?
Nothing except book your travel and hotel reservations. We can’t wait to see you!
What type of clothes do I need?
The dress code for the banquet on Saturday night is formal which can be either western or NaijAttire. We want you to be comfortable but we also want you to look good. Remember plenty of photographs will be taken and your photograph just might end up on our reunion website.

The other events are more casual but please remember to read the weather reports leading up to when you travel to Washington DC area. People dressed in shorts and T-shirts regardless or age and gender is extremely common.

Can I stay elsewhere besides the Reunion host hotel?
Yes, but we strongly encourage you to stay at our host hotel. This will ensure that you don’t get lost, and can easily arrive at the various events.
How do I get to Beltsville, where the hotel is actually located?
By road, obviously depending on where you’re starting your journey, and by air. The Washington DC area is served by three airports with codes BWI, DCAnd IAD. Please click here to view the maps and directions.
Where can I attend or participate in religious services?
Depending on your religious persuasion, we will attempt to identify a place of worship for you. Just contact one of the hosts when you arrive. However, the LOC has arranged for an inter-denominational Christian service to be held at the hotel on Sunday morning from 10-11 am.
What does the Reunion fee cover?
The fee covers your attendance at our scheduled events including the food and soft drinks to be served. Alcohol will be available at the bar which you will be able to purchase. You will also get some souvenirs to remember this fun experience; however you will have to settle your hotel accommodation bill personally. We used our excellent negotiation skills but we couldn’t quite get the accommodation rates low enough to include the Reunion registration fee.
I’m slightly concerned about using my credit card on the internet
We added payment using Paypal as a feature of our online registration.

Why are we raising funds for the university?
Well, we think it is a charitable endeavor. We believe in giving back. Making the university a better place than we met and left it. Thereby creating a stronger foundation to produce better citizens and leaders of the world. To move our university in rankings in the World, one of the ways is by investing in the university to improve its performance in some of the criteria used in the ranking.
What if I want to change the information in my registration form before submitting?
There is a “Reset” button available.
What if I have special needs?
We wish to make the Reunion as accessible as possible to all. Because
situations vary, we will work closely with individuals to accommodate special needs for housing, transportation, etc.
